Mr.
Slack has extensive design experience gathered over thirty-five
years of consulting practice at all levels of design and development
planning. His in-depth educational and professional background, from
architecture and site planning to large-scale land planning and
urban design, has been tempered with significant emphasis on
economics and the physical sciences, all key ingredients in the
pursuit of cost effectiveness and natural design.
-
Jerry’s passion for golf started early. From the age of ten and
throughout his schooling he caddied at Southern Hills and Tulsa
Country Clubs. He began his playing career just as early and won
several amateur and junior titles over the years. He was a walk-on
at Oklahoma State University during the mid 1960s and has been a
student of the game ever since.
-
For
the past twenty years he has held responsible project management
positions for over ninety golf course construction projects across
the United States. As a “hands-on” architect he has become keenly
aware of the impact of environmentally sensitive design on
maintenance and the economic effects of golf course operations. He
utilizes a three-dimensional sketching technique that greatly
enhances the communication of his design concepts to golf course
shapers. His exceptional skill in using this technique has high
impact on the construction management phase of all projects.
-
The
innovative design approaches Mr. Slack brings to both new courses
and emerging golf communities has earned him recognition on a
national level, including:
-
Golf Digest’s “Best New Public Golf Courses” in 2008, Emerald
Falls Golf Club in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, rated #6 on the
national top ten list.
-
“Best Golfing Value in Kansas” in Golf Digest’s “Places To Play”
and regularly receives a 4˝ star rating in Golf Digest’s Places
to Play for Quail Ridge Golf Club in Winfield, Kansas.
-
Nomination for Golf Digest’s “Best New Public Course” in 1997,
and won “Best New Golf Community in Northern Virginia”, 2000
Parade of Homes, General’s Ridge in Manassas, VA.
