With funding provided by the Southern Hills Foundation, First Tee, and the U.S.G.A., 9 holes of the existing 36 hole facility at Mohawk Park Golf Course have been rerouted and rebuilt.

Subtle demographic changes in the region have rendered Mohawk ideal for a First Tee facility. Where no practice facilities existed before, there now stands a completely new range with both fairway and green complex targets, as well as an excellent short game facility. The course rating has been improved while allowing kids of all ages and skill levels to challenge themselves on two or three potentially reachable, but treachorous, par fours and par fives.
Only 2-1/2 new greens needed to be rebuilt, but at the same time less than 100 yards were lost from only the back tees; there are now six sets of tees for all age and skill levels from which to choose on the rerouted nine. Lakes were expanded and new concrete cart paths and bridges were provided, solving for previous functional and dangerous problems. Complete sodding, U.S.G.A. greens, and quality improvements were provided to complete the rerouting and renovation. All of this was accomplished within a minimum budget of $390,000.
Virtually all of the course regulars who have seen the course to date like the renovation better than the original product. Apparently all are anxious for the spring opening as we bear witness to the hundreds of golf balls that have been found on the range already even though it is not yet officially open.
