A
comprehensive array of course design services are available from Slack &
Associates at any location worldwide and at any stage of the development
process. These services would typically include initial site selection
and the evaluation of alternative sites, site analysis of alternative
clubhouse sites, alternative golf corridors, evaluation and use of
specific environment assets and the minimizing of like constraints. At
this stage, alternative routing concepts from various clubhouse sites
can be produced and considered in relation to the optimum course layout
and the schemes that benefit overall project goals and parameters to the
maximum.
After finalizing concept alternatives, the master plan can begin to
materialize, based on qualities contained in the unit cost budgeting
process and detailing the evolving playing strategy, green site design,
bunkering locations and other golf design features. As the master plan
begins to “flesh out”, other parts of the golf course community
development can be merged into the planning process. Land planning at
this stage fits quite nicely if the course is properly routed and
usually very little, if any, adjustments are necessary.
As these plans materialize and are detailed, construction documents can
then be prepared within the parameters of the master plan and the
finalized unit cost budget. Ideally, these plans can be modified and
finalized after clearing and field staking have revealed exactly how the
design services would generally include the following:
